Why Number One killed everyone in Hawkins Lab Except Dr. Brenner ?

Stranger Things season 4 reveals Number One’s identity and the truth of the Hawkins Lab slaughter, but then why would he spare Dr. Brenner? Stranger Things season 4, part 1 concluded with the actual identity of Number One exposed and the mystery surrounding the Hawkins Lab tragedy finally resolved.

There is one unusual element that spectators are wondering about, and that is why Number One saved Dr. Brenner’s life during the attack. According to certain internet beliefs, One and Brenner may have a secret personal relationship.

Stranger Things Season 4 begins in 1979, with scenes depicting the aftermath of an incident in Hawkins Lab that leads viewers to suspect Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is indeed the perpetrator.

Vecna, a new monster introduced throughout the season, preys on damaged people via a mental link from of the Upside Down. Stranger Things season 4, episode 7, “The Massacre at Hawkins Lab,” reveals that Vecna is actually the enigmatic Number One, Dr. Brenner’s first test victim at Hawkins Lab.

One idea puts an unusual slant on Brenner and One’s Stranger Things connection. According to the hypothesis, when One’s father, Victor (Kevin L. Johnson), was in war, his mother, Virginia (Tyner Rushing), had to have an affair with Dr. Brenner.

This resulted in her pregnancy, and she gave birth to Henry Creel, his son (Number One). He would’ve have known regarding his mother’s adultery, understood the deception his family lived, and would have wanted to punish them if he could see into people’s brains.

Being One’s dad also would explain why Dr. Brenner insists on being addressed as Papa by the youngsters reared in the lab. During Nancy’s vision, One asks, “How was old, blind, stupid Victor?” instead of addressing him father.

One told Eleven how his mother had been wary of him, as if she knew how much power he possessed, so he was compelled to make her the first victim and reach his full potential. This idea may explain why One spared Brenner’s life.

Another possibility is that the assault is merely One extending his legs upon finally breaking free from Dr. Brenner’s influence in Stranger Things. Perhaps One intended Dr. Brenner to survived the carnage and witness the monster he had made while letting him deal with the repercussions of his actions the loss of the experiments and the termination of his job at Hawkins Lab.

As far like is known, One was Brenner’s initial test subject with powers, thus it’s understandable that he felt animosity after being tested on for years & treated as a lab rat rather than a child.

As a result, Number One may have concluded that the most serious punishment for its captor would be forcing him to recognise guilt and wrongdoing in testing on kids in Hawkins Lab.

Conclusion :-

Stranger Things season 4 has two episodes yet to be published in volume 2, thus this question may still be answered. For the time being, however, there will be only speculation as to why One allowed Dr. Brenner to survive his assault on Hawkins Lab.

A family tie between the two would be a wonderful surprise, tying the two seasons together by connecting One or Vecna before Stranger Things season 1. However, it’s also possible that This one is simply nasty and intended to ruin his old captor’s career.
